  • 2 large carrots, sliced

  • 2 large onions, chopped

  • 2 cups beef broth

  • 2 bay leaves

  • 1 tsp salt

Directions

  1. In a large pot, combine reserved beef and sauce with potatoes, carrots, onions, and beef broth.

  2. Add bay leaves and salt. Simmer for 45 minutes until vegetables are tender.

Cook’s Notes:

Hold back 1/3 of the stew for the next day’s dish.


Day 3: Beef and Cabbage Stir-Fry

  • 1 head cabbage, sliced

  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 1 tbsp tomato paste

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp black pepper

Directions

  1. Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add cabbage and garlic, stir-fry for 5 minutes.

  2. Add reserved stew and tomato paste. Stir well and cook for 10 minutes.

  3. Season with black pepper before serving.

Cook’s Notes:

Save 1/4 of the stir-fry for the final dish.


Day 4: Kazakh Beef Pilaf

  • Reserved stir-fry from Day 3

  • 2 cups rice

  • 4 cups beef broth

  • 1 large onion, chopped

  • 1 cup frozen peas

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1 bunch dill, chopped

Directions

  1. Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Sauté onion until golden.

  2. Add rice and stir to coat with butter.

  3. Pour in beef broth, bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes.

  4. Stir in reserved stir-fry and peas. Cook for another 5 minutes.

  5. Garnish with dill before serving.
